Two weeks, one private Land Cruiser and one loop through Kenya’s classic wildlife country. Lions resting in the long grass of the Maasai Mara. Rhino grazing beside Lake Nakuru. Hippos surfacing on Lake Naivasha. Elephants walking across Amboseli with Kilimanjaro rising behind them on a clear morning, and the red dust of Tsavo on your boots. Then the Indian Ocean: three nights on Diani Beach, where the only timetable is the tide.
Treat this as our starting plan, not a fixed package. Tell us who is travelling, when, and how you like to travel, and we will shape the lodges, the pace and the extras around you, from a family room to a honeymoon suite.

Safari Overview
Why this route works
The route is a loop: west to the Maasai Mara, north-east to the Rift Valley lakes, south to Kilimanjaro, then east to the sea. Each stop is a different Kenya: open savannah, a soda lake with rhino, a freshwater lake full of hippos, swamps at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, red volcanic hills and, at the end, the coast.
The Maasai Mara gets three nights, so there is time for a full day out to the Mara River and a slow morning or a balloon flight as well. Tsavo West and Tsavo East then carry you steadily towards the coast, so your last game drive ends at the beach rather than in Nairobi traffic. From Diani, one short flight takes you back to Nairobi for your flight home.
The pace, honestly
It is a steady pace, not a slow one. You have three nights in the Mara and two in Amboseli, but only one night each at Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Tsavo West and Tsavo East, and driving days of between four and seven hours. If that sounds like too much, we can fly some legs or add nights.
What a safari day feels like
Most safari days start with coffee at first light and a game drive in the cool of the morning, when animals are most active. You come back for a late breakfast, rest through the heat of the day, and head out again from around four until the park closes. Dinner is at your lodge or camp, often with the day’s sightings retold around a fire. On the full days in the Mara and Amboseli you can stay out all day with a picnic lunch instead.
Who it suits
First-time visitors who want the range of Kenya in one trip: savannah, lakes, volcanic hills and coast. Couples and honeymooners who want the beach as the reward at the end. Families and grandparents travelling together, because with your own vehicle and guide you stop when the children need a break and nobody else’s schedule matters. Solo travellers, who get a private vehicle and guide without joining a group.
Older travellers: one comfortable vehicle, game drives at your own pace, and easy swaps for the longest drives, such as flights or extra nights. Tell us about any mobility needs and we will choose lodges and rooms to suit, and tell you plainly where a camp has steps or a long walk to your room.
Make it yours
- Fly some legs: swap the longest drives for short scheduled flights, for example Nairobi to the Maasai Mara, or Nairobi to Amboseli.
- Change the comfort level: move any stop, or all of them, between Budget, Midrange and Luxury, or mix them, such as Midrange on safari and Luxury at the beach.
- Add nights: a fourth night in the Mara in migration season, a second night at Lake Naivasha, a night in Nairobi to split the drive to Amboseli, or a longer beach stay.
- Choose a different beach: Watamu, Lamu or Zanzibar instead of Diani.
- Travelling with children: family or connecting rooms, lodges with pools where possible, and shorter drive days.
- Travelling with older relatives: flights for the long legs, extra rest nights and rooms chosen for easy access.
- Short on time: drop Lake Nakuru or one of the Tsavo stops to make it 12 or 13 days.
- Flying home from Mombasa: if your international flight leaves from Moi International Airport, we drive you there and skip the domestic flight.
Optional extras
