All-inclusive Kenya safari packages have no fixed definition, so the label tells you less than the inclusions list does. In a typical private safari package, one price covers your lodge or camp, meals, a 4×4 with a driver-guide, game drives and park fees. International flights, the entry authorization, travel insurance, tips, most drinks and extras such as a balloon flight are usually paid on top.
This guide sets out what our own trip pages list as included and not included, the outside costs to budget for, and the questions to ask any operator before you pay. Our prices are in US dollars per person for a private trip and depend on season, group size and lodge choice, so read every “from” figure as a starting point for your quote.

What “all-inclusive” means on a Kenya safari
Two different things share the label, and confusing them is how a quote can look like a bargain until the extras arrive.
A package price from an operator
This is the number most travelers compare: one price per person for the whole route, covering what happens on the ground. It normally includes accommodation, meals, a vehicle and guide, game drives and park fees, and leaves out the flight to Kenya. What sits at the edges, such as drinks, airport transfers, flights between parks and activities, is where operators differ.
A camp’s own all-inclusive rate
Individual camps also sell nightly “all-inclusive” rates. Wilderness, which runs camps in the Maasai Mara, says its rate adds house drinks (including local beer, house wine and non-premium spirits), laundry, two scheduled activities a day and emergency medical evacuation insurance. Premium spirits, champagne, balloon flights, tips, visa or eTA fees, travel insurance and international flights are still extra. That is a more generous definition than a typical package price uses, which is why the word alone settles nothing. African Safari Magazine gives the same advice: ask for a written list of inclusions and exclusions, because they vary.
What is in the price on our trips
We read the inclusions list on four trip pages. On all of them the core is the same: a Land Cruiser with a professional driver-guide, accommodation, meals as listed and park fees, with game drives built into the itinerary. Every Entice trip is private, so the vehicle and guide are yours alone. The details differ.
- 10-day Samburu to the Maasai Mara: 9 nights, full board on safari, dinner on arrival day and breakfast on the last morning. Fees for Samburu and Buffalo Springs, Ol Pejeta, Lake Nakuru and the Maasai Mara, including any conservancy fee at your camp. Airport transfers with a meet-and-greet, bottled water in the vehicle, and government taxes and levies on included services.
- 7 Days Maasai Mara Migration Safari: 6 nights on full board, the Land Cruiser and driver-guide, park entrance fees and bottled water during game drives. Its list is shorter than the others, so ask us to confirm anything it does not mention, such as drinks or insurance, before you pay.
- 6-Day Fly-In Big Five Safari: 5 nights, scheduled flights from Nairobi to Amboseli, to the Mara and back to Nairobi, airstrip and airport transfers, park and conservancy fees, soft drinks and water, and AMREF Flying Doctors emergency cover.
- 3-day Maasai Mara Roar & Roam: 2 nights in a tented camp in the Mara, meals as listed in the itinerary, drinking water, Maasai Mara park entrance fees, and pick-up and drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or the airport.
Park fees: the line that moves a quote most
Park fees are charged per person per day, and a quote that leaves them out can look much cheaper than one that includes them. The Kenya Wildlife Service conservation fee schedule lists USD 90 for a non-resident adult and USD 45 for a child or student in Amboseli or Lake Nakuru National Park, valid for up to 24 hours.
The Maasai Mara reserve is charged separately. A Maasai Mara visitor information site lists non-resident adult entry at USD 100 a day from 1 January to 30 June and USD 200 a day from 1 July to 31 December, valid for 12 hours. A camp operator’s notice says Narok County, which manages the reserve, announced the same two-season structure for 2024. At the higher rate, three days of game drives in August would be USD 600 per adult in entry fees alone, before a bed, a meal or a vehicle. Fees are set by the authorities and can change, so confirm them for your dates.
On the four trips above, the pages list park fees as included, and the 10-day page adds any conservancy fee at your camp. If another quote leaves them out, add them before you compare.
Two private trips to start from
10-Day Kenya Safari: Samburu to the Maasai Mara: for travelers who want rhinos, northern species and three nights among the Mara’s big cats. From USD 5,100 per person.
7 Days Maasai Mara Migration Safari: for travelers who want the Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli in one week. From USD 4,500 per person.
What is not in the price
Here is where the extras sit, based on the same trip pages. Where a page does not mention an item, the table says so.
| Cost | In our price? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| International flights | No | Our prices cover the safari on the ground. The 3-day, 6-day and 10-day pages list international flights as not included. |
| Kenya eTA | No | The 10-day page lists the eTA as not included, and the 6-day page lists visa fees. The fee is set on the official portal. |
| Travel and medical insurance | No | Listed as not included on the 3-day, 6-day and 10-day pages, and the 10-day page strongly recommends it. The 7-day page does not mention it. |
| Tips | No | Listed as not included on all four pages. Tipping is customary and at your discretion. |
| Drinks | Mostly no | Water is covered on all four trips and soft drinks on the 6-day trip. The 3-day, 6-day and 10-day pages list other drinks or alcohol as extra, and the 7-day page does not say. |
| Hot-air balloon over the Mara | No, optional | USD 550 per person on the 3-day and 10-day pages: a dawn flight of about an hour, then breakfast where you land. |
| Maasai village visit | Extra fee | USD 30 per person on the 3-day and 10-day pages. On the 3-day trip the visit is part of the program and only the entry fee is paid, on the day. On the 10-day trip it is an optional extra. |
| Flights within Kenya | Included on the 6-day fly-in | On the 10-day trip a flight leg is quoted on request. |
| Meals and nights at the edges | Partly | The 3-day page leaves out breakfast on day 1 and lunch and dinner on day 3. The 10-day page leaves out lunch on the last day and a day room in Nairobi before your flight. |
| Personal expenses | No | Laundry, phone calls and souvenirs. |
Entry rules and a new insurance requirement
Most visitors need a Kenya eTA before they fly, applied for online at the official portal, etakenya.go.ke. The UK government’s travel advice says the Kenyan authorities recommend applying at least two weeks before departure, and that a British passport needs to be valid for at least six months after arrival with at least two blank pages. Check the rules for your own passport.
Kenya has also introduced mandatory travel health insurance for foreign visitors staying under 12 months. The UK government says that from 5 October 2026, eTA applicants must buy it as part of the application. The rule has been challenged in Kenyan courts and the details have shifted. In August the Ministry of Health said a compliant policy from home can count, but the portal’s steps may differ, so read what it asks for on the day you apply before you buy, or skip, a separate policy.
Four trips side by side
Prices are “from” figures per person and move with season, group size and lodge choice. The 6-day price is for two sharing on January to March 2027 rates.
| Compare | 3-day Roar & Roam | 6-day fly-in | 7-day migration | 10-day Samburu to Mara |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Questions to ask before you pay
- Are park and conservancy fees included for every day, and for which parks?
- Is the vehicle private, and does the same driver-guide stay with you throughout?
- Which meals are covered on the first and last day?
- Which drinks are covered, and which are not?
- Are airport and airstrip transfers included, and are flights between parks?
- What do optional activities cost, and when do you pay for them?
- Who covers emergency evacuation, and what insurance do you need to buy yourself?
- Can I have the inclusions and exclusions in writing before I pay a deposit?
Our quote answers each of these in an itemized price. If you are comparing trips from the United States, our guide to a Kenya safari from the USA covers flights and entry rules.

Frequently asked questions
Is an Entice safari all-inclusive?
Not in the resort sense. Our prices cover the ground essentials on each trip page: lodging, meals as listed, a private vehicle and driver-guide, game drives and park fees. Flights to Kenya, the eTA, insurance, tips and most drinks are extra, as the table above shows.
Are park fees included in the price?
On the four trips reviewed here, yes. Their inclusions lists all include park fees, and the 10-day list adds conservancy fees at your camp. Your quote confirms the fees for your dates.
Do I need to tip, and how much?
Tipping is customary and at your discretion. Our trip pages list tips as not included, and the 10-day page invites you to ask us for guidance when you book.
How much does the hot-air balloon cost?
The balloon is an optional extra at USD 550 per person on our 3-day and 10-day pages, with a champagne breakfast where you land. Operators set a minimum age for children, and the 10-day page advises booking early for July to October. If you add it, check that your travel insurance covers ballooning.
Do I need a visa or insurance to enter Kenya?
Most visitors need an eTA, applied for online before travel, and Kenya has added a health insurance requirement tied to that application. The sections above explain what is known so far and link the sources. Because both can change, check the official portal and your own government’s travel advice before you pay for anything.
